The Homestead

So here are some pics of our home! Please don't mind the bareness of some of the rooms, we are still working on putting the house together but at least this will give you a good idea of our home life.

These exterior shots were taken a few months ago, after we found out we got the house!

I didn't realize it right away but apparently 15 is our family's "lucky" number. Jet was born on Feb. 15, Roxy was born on June 15, Matt and I were married on Aug. 15, and our first home is number 15. I should try my hand at the lottery with this number!

Got these awesome hanger letters from Anthropologie a while ago

Got this couch at the Urban Barn outlet in Scarborough; I highly recommend checking out this place. They sell dinged up furniture from their retail stores at 30-50% off. The only thing that was "wrong" about this couch was a bit of threading that had unraveled in the back, for a saving of hundreds of dollars, I'll take it!

I always knew I wanted floating bookshelves. The company that we got our dining table from also made  these shelves for us. The wood comes from an old factory building in Kitchener from the 1890's. I also found out that they source their wood from a guy who also sources to Restoration Hardware - same kind of look, for waaaaaaay less.

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE our table. To me, the dining table is so much the heart of the home so I wanted to invest in a table that would only get better with age and use.

I got these chairs for super cheap off of Kijiji but they were dirty and ugly. But given a little paint and fabric love, these chairs turned out fabulous. Fabricland is one of my new favorite stores and if you are looking for an easy and inexpensive way to quiet some creaky chairs, I highly recommend Wonderlokem's Tite Chair glue.

Most everything on the mantle (minus the mirror) is either from Bibles for Missions (I scored big time there!) or from Dollarama or Value Village. I love thrifting!

Scored those barstools for way cheaper than in regular retail stores by buying them directly from a furniture warehouse called Trendy Furniture in Markham.

Loving our magnetic chalkboard wall. We like to use it to put up the verse our church is going through that week.

Guest washroom. This bathroom was so dark before so we lightened it up with some textured wallpaper and light gray paint. Would love to change the floors someday down the road.

Roxy Girl's room. I got all our dressers off of Kijiji (Canadian version of Craiglist) and refinished them. Painting a piece of furniture black or white makes it look a thousand times better. All of them were that grandma brown beforehand but I painted them all white then spray painted the knobs and handles a brushed bronze for a nice classic look.

Jet Jet's room

Master Bedroom.
That is paintable beadboard wallpaper on the wall, I highly recommend it as a cheaper alternative to the real thing. It was easy to put up and looks great.

We are hoping to renovate the bathroom someday but we are loving our room and are so thankful for it.
